TONY_GRANATA

My name is Tony, I am an artist and designer from San Diego. Growing up I spent every spare second I had drawing something or making things out of what I could and became very drawn to punk and counter cultural movements as I got older. In my work I strive to turn everything up to 11 and hold nothing back by constantly trying new things.

I can be painting big murals, making stickers or designing clothes for a client and my unique voice will shine through no matter what medium or discipline I am working in. I want to invite my audience into the crazy world of counter culture, creativity and pure expression in all of the work I do. So, Welcome!

PHOTOSHOP

To demonstrate my understanding of Raster Graphics using Adobe Photoshop I created a colage style piece using a mixture of images I found and personal illstrations of my own in order to create a vision of the future. This involved layering these images correctly and blending them togeter using blending modes and color correction as well as adding shadows to create a cohesive piece.

To create each of these pieces I used the image trace tool to create vectors of the source images to layer and edit in Adobe Illustrator. From there I added shapes and logos to make them more interesting and populated and each of these can be a screenprint or sticker. Vector graphics are very versitile and applicable to many different mediums.

AUDIO

For this audio project I gathered sounds from around campus as well as naration from friends of mine to create these sound scapes. I edited each sound to add things like reverb and delay for heightened effects. I also gathered the sound of the circuit I built for my circuit bending class to create the buzzing at the beginning of the final and you can see it on the stop map I made for this project.

VIDEO

This project was a pardoy of Ringu the 1998 Japanese horror movie where the subversion to add some comedy is the ghost girl of the movie “Sadako” can’t get out of the tv. I used custom filters to make my partner Maria’s footage look like a VHS and took into consideration shot direction and structure for my side.

ANIMATION

This is the project where I learned how to use Adobe After Effects for the first time. Whereas with most of the previous projects I already had foundational knowledge of the software for this one I have only dipped my toes into what this software can do and I feel more equiped to learn more about how to use it.  I would love to create more motion graphics and animations using After Effects in the future.
